Full Scale Falcon

The thought that someone out there is actually attempting to build a full-scale Millennium Falcon may just make me explode with glee. Sheer. Unadulterated. Glee. It's like a modern-day Noah's Ark but without the animals and poop and haters and, hopefully, without the world-drowning flood.

We will have to follow the progress of this project. It is a moral imperative.

There are quite a few blogs out there for Nerdy Dads, Geeky Dad, Dads who are Nerds, Fatherhood for Geeks, etc.

As far as I know, this is the first blog named Paternerdicus.

Pater, Latin for father. As in paternity.

Nerd, as in someone passionate about something obscure, causing at least some social awkwardness.

-icus, just to make this extra nerdy.

I already blog about web design, but I wanted an outlet to share even more nerdiness.

One of my web friends, Kevin, had his son born within a day of my daughter. So he’s joining me in this nerdy endeavor.

Some of what we share will be specifically for dads who are nerds. Some will be just plain nerdy fun. And there may just be a tender reflection on fatherhood from time to time.

Just because this is geared towards nerdy dads, we still welcome nerdy moms or nerds who aren’t dads to hang out here. Nerds of all stripes are welcome.

And if you’re not a nerd? Well, feel free to laugh behind your backs at us. We’re used to it.

Just remember, nerds won’t just inherit the earth. We have a whole universe out there to explore.

I can blame my nerdiness on my parents. After all, they took me to my first viewing of the original Star Wars back in 1977 when I was a mere two years old.

Much to my wife's chagrin, my nerdiness has not abated. In fact, if anything, it has rubbed off a bit on her and will likely have the same effect later on our new son, Nathan.

My nerdiness covers the original Star Wars trilogy; some Star Trek; the world of Alien; LEGO; The Walking Dead; Doctor Who; world history, specifically the U.S. Civil War and World War II; independent, alternative, and electronic music; and all things iPhone and iPad. But, more importantly than all that, I love spending time with my wife and son. Family is awesome.
